Project Roadmap

The Beryllium Team

We are a team that aims to make linux easy to use.

Oct 2022

RebornOS ARM begins

The early work started as an ARM-focused experiment under RebornOS, exploring how to bring an Arch-style rolling system to single-board computers.

June 2023

Bred OS splits out

The ARM effort became its own project, while RebornOS continued on its desktop path. That separation let the new distro focus more directly on board support and images.

July 2023

First stable images

The first stable builds shipped with a custom installation flow and ready-to-use desktop options for popular ARM devices.

2024

Hardware support expands

More contributors, testers, and users joined in. The supported-device list grew, and the project gained fixes from real daily use on a wider range of boards.

2025

Beyond the basics

Work continued on gaming, RISC-V support, device compatibility, and the smoother experience expected from a modern rolling Linux distribution.

March 2026

Beryllium takes the torch

Bred OS became defunct after the Bred OS GitHub organization was purged of its members. Development continues under Beryllium, with most of the original developers still working on the fork.
